fabulous pair of sterling silver serving servers by Whiting, C.1880. The length of the fork is 11 7/8"; the length of the spoon is 12 1/8". This wonderful salad set has an applied crab, with a copper shell. The leaves and stem are also applied, all on a hammered background with engraved leaves. The shaped, hammered bowls are very lightly gold-washed, both on the front and the reverse. The Bowl of the fork is beautifully pierced. The condition is excellent. There has never been a monogram. The marks are 6 - the old Whiting symbol - STERLING - J.E. CALDWELL & CO.
